We lag behind!

I read an article on a local paper here,7 days,it was on the number of suicide cases of students in India of recently. The reason?Parental and societal pressure. If you are Indian you would be familiar with this attitude-"If you are a good student you are a good child else you aren't!".This attitude ought to change in our nation. We cannot go on like this.So all our parents forced us into courses, some of you lucky enough to choose your subjects, some others, like me,not lucky for that, but we carried on.But as years pass by cost, admission, reputation all becomes part of courses you want to take up.We are not given Education in India. We are just taught certain skills and principles through books and practices in the schools/colleges.Education is much more, sports, music, dance all of this is given importance. If you are taught a subject as core, you are also taught a subject of your liking.May be its a violin/ballet/basket ball. But where does this happen in India?and if it happens too why is it regarded of lower importance that your books?

Most of us today are the ones who work 9-5.Daily job tensions, political pressures and so on.Has your boss ever asked you how much you scored in Math in your 12th?I am sure never. He would rather find out from you if you have completed the task you were assigned that morning or what are your targets for the day/week.Who cares today how much was your score? If you prove yourself in the work environment you are success.Period.

Who are more successful?the ones who followed their dreams! They went on to become musicians, artists of various sorts, film makers, sports personalities, models, some even politicians. So who is more better off in soceity today?who are leading richer lifes?are their pictures on paper or yours?and what do you get at the end of the day- a comment from your parents about a young boy or girl making it to the top not through some exam but by display of talent.

Would you now after such thought want to waste your energy on a debate---A billion as per population and just 1 Olympic medal ???!!!

tuloo.. wherefore art you? Interesting blog post about the Indian Educational System. I remember the flak I got for taking commerce after the 10th. My science teacher didn't talk to me for a month because she thought it was a waste of the good grades I'd gotten in my exams! I think our cultural mindset needs to change a little bit too.

Fun weekend trip!!

South Lake Tahoe (Nevada) was our adventure trip this Saturday, about a 4 hr drive from where we live. we started early and until halfway i put my driving skills to test! the tuf time was for my hubby, not me...i was just glad at the opportunity!! :-)So i survived till Sacremento( i didnt know it was capital of CA). 2nd half of the drive was mainly on winding roads around the mountains while elevating yourself upto 7000ft! it was amazing as you get a scenic view of mountains n the lake below! awesome!! Once we entered the resort we first got a booking for para sail...I must admit from a distance it did look a bit too wild and so-not-like-me venture...but then the whole idea was to explore and try out new things...so went for it - from the 3 different heights of 400/800/1200ft we chose 800ft! i cudnt believe it myself, but i was in for it. so we walked around the beach area n enquired abt jet skiing while waiting for the parasail call.they made a group of 3 (a mother-daughter, a coupl...

Wedding preparations...

So we made a trip to India for a fortnight, I had to write a review- it was one of a kind.(though the characteristic of hectic is an unavoidable feature!) For the first time- 5 of us took the same flight, thats jija, sis and 3 of us, so for a start it was exciting, and the new look of the Sharjah airport was extremely pleasing, very very refreshing! :-) AirArabia was as ever on time, love this airline, had all good experiences so far! so we landed in Mumbai and crashed after a shower at my periamma's place.my cousin's little one was so cute, full of masti...the next morning was spent in selection of a suitable wedding card.Somehow it was easy to choose, since just 1 stood out in my opinion and luckily the higher authorities approved, even though they thought it looks a little small.after 2-3 corrections, the outcome was great! relieved at that work! then we went get a lehenga for reception wear, now I love to shop in India - cos of immense competition, they make you feel like the...
