Good Food weekend

Friday night we went for dinner to a Malaysian joint called "Banana leaf". It was the first time I was going to eat Malaysian, so you can imagine my excitement, especially since we are talking food! This place is very popular and the crowd waiting for a table proved it, ambience - dim lit with good art work on the walls can be unnoticable since its nosiy in there! Prathas as starters and Pad thai noodles were too good! Chocolate mousse was amazing as ever , though i did try the fried banana with icecream which was pretty cool.

Saturday morning I equipped myself with a driving permit after giving in a written test.So all I now need is good confidence on the roads here before i take an appointment for driving test.Anyways, that evening after a lot of cleaning, laundry and sleep, we decided to go for dinner n watch a movie. So this time dinner is Italian at DiCicco's- romantic place that believed in Retro music and native italian dishes. We had Bruschetta to start with and based on my hubby's suggestion I tried Eggplant parmasan with marinara sauce with pasta and it was soooooo good!So after that stuffing, we went for a movie at AMC - watched 1408 based on Stephen King's writing - thriller based movie starrting John Cusack and Samuel L.Jackson.

Sunday morning was late but we were invited to lunch at a friend's place - tasteful homemade Indian lunch. Evening we had some guests over like a Pot luck -we made snacks and so did thy, hence ended up having an early dinner!

Whoa! I am stuffed after a weekend...i feel I have already eaten for 2 extra days!!!
I cant recollect having so much of good food in a single weekend....

Rare Snow day! 01/10/2021

After a grilling 2020, 2021 started out with a mixture of emotions - grim but hopeful, distant from family but long WhatsApp calls, rainy but looking forward to the sunshine in the coming days. A lot of R&R is how we started our New Years, thanks to the long weekend. We read, watched tv, cooked and slept a lot!  Once work started, it didn't even feel very different from the past few weeks. Unfortunately a few days into the first working week, there was chaos in the DC Capitol and many State Capitols. A riot started by an infuriating and possibly out-of-work men and women wanting to display their passionate support of an incapable President. Back to feeling uncertain and grim about the future, we were surprised by Mother Nature providing us a rare snow fall day here in Austin, TX! It was simply amazing and a great 2nd Sunday of the year where we got 3.5-4 inches of snow ! The sights were remarkable during and after the snow fall. The entire city and neighbors were thrilled...

Uniquely Singapore-Day 3

As decided we started off to Sentosa island after packing some sandwiches and juices in for the rest of the day.Sentosa was some awesome experience. "Images of Singapore" being the best visit with the highlight of what makes Singapore and the wax models of the famous Raffles and other political leaders, also display of different birth and wedding ceremonies conducted in S’pore. The country takes its name from 'Singapura' which means land of lions, as seen by the fishermen in the early days. The "sky tower" by Carlsberg company was worth it too, where we got to see Singapore from almost 130 meters above sea level-this probably being the highest view of Singapore. Cinemania was fun but I have had better experiences before. Not to forget the Underwater world was amazing with almost 2000 different fishes, 100 different crabs, the Dugong attracting a lot of attention. This fish is named Gracy because of her graceful movement. She has the face of a baby cow, body ...
