History in the making

Today was the big day, the Inaugural function of Barack Obama, 44th President of USA. America creates a history with its first ever African-American President.

While watching him take the oath and his inaugural speech , it was exciting and hopeful. No matter what the doubts are in his abilities or rather results during his 4-year term, I just cannot imagine any other candidate who would have turned President with such inspiring words and a drive to re-make and re-build the country.

I won't be pessimistic right now inspite of the weakening economy, I will give the new President his chance to work towards fulfilling his promises and hopefully find economy back in shape not too far from now!

Hi Raeka, last year you had blogged about the campaign to protect Olive Ridleys from the Tata port in Dhamra. Thanks to the efforts of bloggers just like you, the Tatas are now talking to us. We believe we can win the campaign this year if we get enough of an online buzz going again. We have something big planned. To know how you could help out this time, just email me at nlincoln (at) in (dot) greenpeace (dot) org

Hear from you soon!

Suddenly I feel there's time in my hands....the following thoughts cross my mind... - that model on the cover looks awesome, how is that so? - if they actually airbrush pictures , then how come there is a good looking category? - i want to see a brand new juice in the market, tired of the same old ones... - i feel like shopping often.its more a thought than action. - i like clothes that some other women wears...i want stuff like those! - how come there is traffic only when i want to drive? - water is good for me, very good....keep drinking..has anyone tried flavored water? - is flavored water as good for health? - how come some advertisements are soooo good? is it just one person or a team? - when everyone is busy how come i have time? - how is it that my phone rings only when i want to sleep or when i am occupied? - why do i get tanned so quickly? - how come technology is always surprising to me? - why didn't i get into sports or music when i was younger? - why is it that some ...

Rare Snow day! 01/10/2021

After a grilling 2020, 2021 started out with a mixture of emotions - grim but hopeful, distant from family but long WhatsApp calls, rainy but looking forward to the sunshine in the coming days. A lot of R&R is how we started our New Years, thanks to the long weekend. We read, watched tv, cooked and slept a lot!  Once work started, it didn't even feel very different from the past few weeks. Unfortunately a few days into the first working week, there was chaos in the DC Capitol and many State Capitols. A riot started by an infuriating and possibly out-of-work men and women wanting to display their passionate support of an incapable President. Back to feeling uncertain and grim about the future, we were surprised by Mother Nature providing us a rare snow fall day here in Austin, TX! It was simply amazing and a great 2nd Sunday of the year where we got 3.5-4 inches of snow ! The sights were remarkable during and after the snow fall. The entire city and neighbors were thrilled...

Uniquely Singapore-Day 3

As decided we started off to Sentosa island after packing some sandwiches and juices in for the rest of the day.Sentosa was some awesome experience. "Images of Singapore" being the best visit with the highlight of what makes Singapore and the wax models of the famous Raffles and other political leaders, also display of different birth and wedding ceremonies conducted in S’pore. The country takes its name from 'Singapura' which means land of lions, as seen by the fishermen in the early days. The "sky tower" by Carlsberg company was worth it too, where we got to see Singapore from almost 130 meters above sea level-this probably being the highest view of Singapore. Cinemania was fun but I have had better experiences before. Not to forget the Underwater world was amazing with almost 2000 different fishes, 100 different crabs, the Dugong attracting a lot of attention. This fish is named Gracy because of her graceful movement. She has the face of a baby cow, body ...
