Uniquely Singapore--Day 1

Yay!!!Finally in S'pore!

We landed at 1308 ,about an hour's delay, at Changi Airport--very sobre compared to the hustle-bustle at the Dubai airport.Got past immigration pretty quickly and our entrance was stamped by Premlatha behind the pink counter.Soon after which I saw my sis waving as we were going to pick our suitcases from the conveyer belt.Funnily,no screening of any of luggages and soon we were in the taxi, chit chatting about the meal in the flight, the crowd, the service of the airline that loved the Oryx.
In the evening we walked a short distance to the nearest SMRT(Singapore Mass Rapid Transport) metro station and got into the 1st available metro to City Hall Station. As expected the maps were very clear about the routes and unlike Europe there were just green and
red lines. Noticed in Europe we also had the blue and yellow routes. Singapore seems too small for all that.
Half hour's ride took us to City Hall and we entered straight into a mall that connected us to the Suntech mall. Some local brands and others were foreign, lotsa coffee-bread shops and a festive look all around. The city is all merry with the coming of Xmas that every shop had atleast about 10% discount.About 20 minutes walk took us to Tower2 where my sis works. There was a 'CareBears' show for the kids and that was some crowd!
Met SB and her mom, as decided, and we chatted quite a bit before going to the Fountain of Wealth. Now the reason they have this fountain between the SunTech Towers is cos the Chinese believe flowing water helps businesses flourish. The five towers represent the five fingers of a hand-one being the shortest, representing the thumb.Around the fountain there were good attributes of every Chinese signs based on year of birth carved on bronze plates. We then went around the fountain, touching the water and did 3 rounds if you wanted to make a wish.Ofcourse, i did!
The show then began with laser lights and a lill dance of the fountain with catchy music.Since my sis dedicated a song to us her request came on laser after the show! That was some treat!:p

We then took a 111 to Orchard Road--the most decorated road in the city these days. The street boasted of a huge screen that showed the latest in English pop, heavily decorated malls, the trees covered with lights and 4 huge toy drummers on each corner of the junction. There were lotsa street sellers with clothes, toys ,watches and such stuff. We walked into the Center Point Mall which was sponsored by M&Ms ,had pizzas for dinner and we just walked across the street enjoying the festive feel! We walked into Takashimaya --the most impressive one where we got to see the best looking Xmas tree! We then walked to the Orchard SMRT stop and got back home a little before midnight.

The city has to offer-a largely disciplined, stylish set of population, climate that is pretty unpredictable ,loadsa greenery and a well-planned transport system. Now,thats it for now, hoping to post every day's detail !

Suddenly I feel there's time in my hands....the following thoughts cross my mind... - that model on the cover looks awesome, how is that so? - if they actually airbrush pictures , then how come there is a good looking category? - i want to see a brand new juice in the market, tired of the same old ones... - i feel like shopping often.its more a thought than action. - i like clothes that some other women wears...i want stuff like those! - how come there is traffic only when i want to drive? - water is good for me, very good....keep drinking..has anyone tried flavored water? - is flavored water as good for health? - how come some advertisements are soooo good? is it just one person or a team? - when everyone is busy how come i have time? - how is it that my phone rings only when i want to sleep or when i am occupied? - why do i get tanned so quickly? - how come technology is always surprising to me? - why didn't i get into sports or music when i was younger? - why is it that some ...

Hey!!!

its been a while since we have had some news....s0 here we go, The most famous 22K jeweller ,probably globally, has asked its male employees to shave off their moustaches +facial hair to keep up with their jobs!the examples are set by the owner, himself ,the managers and all the male employees irrespective of the hierarchy!now,i find this news very very interesting!having to look formal is part of most jobs but shaving off moustaches, what formality would it create?does grooming have to go to this extent???what is most capturing is the 'pride' of these men who hail from the land that claims to be 'God's own country' seems to be hit..... So India and Pakistan,i still believe, could be the best neighbours ever, but we have decided to be influenced by political pressures even after all these years!Anyways, the point is while Indian films are "banned" in Pakistan the Indian stars are not!which goes on to show how strong piracy is.so we have ms rai, going over to thei...

The 1969 reunion!

My dad is currently enjoying "retirement", he recently tells me that he is soon having a 1969 college reunion! While just hearing that got me excited, the stories of how he found his college mates after 42 years was even more interesting. To begin with, he bumped into one of them and that kick started the whole process. They chatted about what they have been upto so far in life and if they were in touch with others. From there on, one thing led to another, he tells me. He met up with a few who never left town and stayed on for all these years. Today, they have managed to arrange a gathering of 25 classmates, all this without the involvement of Internet at all! Dad tells me that a couple of never touched a computer! That just concludes that the Internet is overrated and its sad that even if we are equipped with more tools, no one has time for another. So meeting up is pretty much a big deal in today's world. So proud of the 1969 batch!
