Interesting traffic discoveries...

Now that I am preparing myself to be equipped with a local licence, u can imagine me concentrating on the differnces in the road, compared to UAE.So here goes some interesting things i find on the roads here:-

a) You may make right turns on red light on most roads here, after you check traffic for urself!

b)The names of the street are parallel to the road, so look right or left not straight for directions!

c) there are Sensors just behind the stop line at traffic lights, that allows the system to run accordingly--so cool!

d) i didnt find a single cab or bus near my place! i think its cos my area is not city! :-(

e)i like the center lane idea, that allows u to stay on it and wait until u take a left turn safely!

Welcome to the US! About d) it's not unusual at all not to find a cab or a bus in the US. Public transport is not really a big thing here.. mostly everyone has a car and drives to wherever they want. The best cities for public transport IMO are New York and Chicago and maybe some others that I don't know about. But those are the ones where you get to walk a lot. :) Good Luck on the driving test!

Uniquely Singapore -Day 9

The first destination for the day was Haw Par Villa. The garden made by Aw Boon Haw for his brother Aw Boon Par is worth a visit ,if you ask me.The garden is Haw's effort to communicate to the world about Chinese culture.Orginally, Burmese the family moved to Singapore where Haw's famous Tiger Balm made him a billionare. The loss of his sons and brother during Japan's invation is what led to the making of this fantasy land by balm billionare. An ideal location to take pictures where creatures are as big as or even bigger than humans, the Buddha statue, ten courts of hell , Jade house and the tomb-a colorful place this is. We then headed to Little India for exploring the shops out there and get the Indian feel.We visited the Perumal and Mariamman temples there. The Mariamman temple is about 150 years old but well maintained and expanded a beautiful place.

Will miss u...

My car- the cute206 : 65533 , will be missed terribly...so many joyous thoughts and experiences with it and has been one of my best friends! Together we've seen so many characters with us, explored new places, bad days on the road and even all those jolly, traffic-free drives with co-incidentally great music on the radio....! Never once gave up on me, always always loved it! Truly will miss u! :-(

Finance and Economics talkies

So as to summarize the happenings on these areas so far, The Chinese yuan has been revaluated ,thats up 2.1 pc against the USD .Good for the Yuan but not so good news for the middle east currencies that are pegged against the dollar! We are going to find our weekly grocery bills shoot up in sometime,it should not be a surprise considering a country like UAE where 80 pc of the goods are imported.Much the same would happen to the OMR,SAR ,QRD and BHD. So my nation and favorite market has signed the prestigious N-deal.I wonder how things will be in the future. What reactions would come across for the several tests done and so on.Also very hazy about what the rising foreign reserves are going to serve by year 2010.Ofcourse credibility and all but stocking up about $662 million,is that such a good idea moving forward?! Etisalat have signed the MoU with Sudan's Unity. The farsight of this company has been excellent so far.Spreading investments through out this region since their monopoly is...
